The App requests camera access (android.permission.CAMERA) solely to scan QR codes and product barcodes in real time. Video frames are processed in-memory by Google ML Kit and discarded immediately. No video recordings or photos are saved to disk or transmitted over the network.
When you select "Scan from Image," the Android photo picker accesses only the specific photo you choose. The image is analyzed locally on your device to extract barcode data and is released from memory immediately thereafter.
Your scan history, custom QR codes, and favorites are stored solely on your device using Android’s sandboxed local storage (SharedPreferences). You can delete individual scans or wipe the entire history at any time using the "Clear History" button in the App. Uninstalling the App permanently deletes this data.
The App provides an optional heuristic link checker that warns you before opening suspicious or unencrypted URLs. All link analysis (shortener detection, IP checking, protocol inspection) runs completely offline on your device without sending URLs to external verification servers.
Scan247 does not maintain proprietary tracking or analytics servers. The following third-party software development kits (SDKs) are present:
The free version of Scan247 uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK (google_mobile_ads) to serve banner and interstitial ads. To display ads and combat fraud, Google AdMob may collect and process:
AD_ID) and Privacy Sandbox tokens.Google handles this data pursuant to its privacy policies:
You can opt out of personalized advertising by resetting or deleting your Advertising ID via your device’s Settings → Google → Ads.
The App loads typography using google_fonts over HTTPS and caches the font files locally. Google may receive standard HTTP request metadata (such as IP address) during this initial font download.
When you choose to open a scanned web link, telephone number, or map location, the App opens your device’s default browser or handler. Your interactions on external websites are subject to the respective third-party privacy policies.
Scan247 includes an in-app "Pro Mode" preference toggle. Currently, no payment processing, Google Play Billing SDK, or third-party subscription SDK (such as RevenueCat) is integrated into the App. The App does not collect, process, or store credit card numbers, payment methods, or financial data. If in-app purchases are enabled in a future release, transactions will be managed exclusively through Google Play In-App Billing.
